A group of 34 students and 5 teachers went on a 5-day tour of Beijing, the capital of China, from July 2 to July 6. The tour was led by Vice Principal Mr. Kot, who shared his past experiences visiting Beijing and compared them to the present day, highlighting the rapid development and modernization of the city.
RiseUp aims to help ethnic minority young people from deprived districts in Hong Kong develop life skills and resilience along with creative photography skills. Participants attend weekly, interactive workshops that focus on a series of life skills including goal-setting, problem-solving and teamwork. They go on to learn technical and creative skills in photography.
Participants use the new knowledge and skills to express their own and other’s experience of life in Hong Kong through photography, including both obstacles and opportunities. The programme ends with an exhibition in a gallery or event space, showcasing the work of the students.
The PowerThru Education Program is an initiative from EmpowerU to create education opportunities and a learning community, leveraging their pedagogical expertise and connection to the University of Hong Kong, their team has partnered up with 10 excellent instructors to introduce five courses to students.
In this school year, they provide two courses in Broadway: “Drama Dojo” and “It’s Debatable”
The Guidance Team organized a Mental Health Myth Buster Quiz to educate students about myths and facts of mental health. Students completed a Google form regarding mental health myths and answered a few questions about their mental well-being. Following this, a video was shown to debunk these myths.
As part of a Service Learning Project, the school’s Guidance team and English department have invited several S2 students to write biographies of their grandparents. Through this project, our students delved into the history and journeys of their grandparents, discovering how and why they established roots in Hong Kong. They unearthed fascinating historical details, some of which were previously unknown even to their parents. The students were both amazed and inspired by the hardships their grandparents endured, gaining valuable insights for their own lives. Without this project, they would not have had the opportunity to learn more about their grandparents. This experience has been immensely valuable, enabling them to learn and grow while fostering a greater sense of gratitude for their grandparents and own lives.
The school Movie Night, held on 21st June, 2024 at STEAM lab, was a fun-filled event organized with the intention of providing entertainment and fostering a sense of community within the school. The event aimed to offer former students an opportunity to relax, enjoy some refreshments, and bond with each other in a casual and enjoyable setting.
The movie selection for the Movie Night was chosen to appeal to a wide range of audiences. Notable movie showcased during the event was The Greatest Showman. The film ensured that there was something for everyone, ensuring an engaging and inclusive movie night experience.
The FutureGEN Young Women Leaders Award Launching Ceremony was held on 28th May 2024. This program offers teen girls an opportunity to engage with 20 different industries’ leaders. Students can learn and develop vital leadership, communication, digital and various skills to effect positive change for better future. Broadway students are invited to share their idea about future career in the launching ceremony. It is a golden opportunity for our students to learn from different industry leaders in the event.
