S6 students visit the Siu Ho Wan Sewage Treatment Plant.
They first listened to a talk by the Hong Kong Drainage Service Department, which introduced the work of the department and how it facilitates sewage treatment in Hong Kong, as well as their discharge process. They also observed the solar panels located outside the site. Additionally, the organization provided some fun games, and the students actively participated, enjoying this meaningful activity as a learning experience.
The S6 students then visit the sewage treatment plant, where they observe how the plant reduces the harmful contents of sewage before it is discharged into the ocean. This outing is meaningful and aligns with what they learned in the HKDSE Applied Ecology course. Through this experience, our students gain a better understanding of Hong Kong’s sewage treatment processes and will certainly develop a greater respect for the environment as citizens of Hong Kong.
