The “Sustainable Agriculture Study Exchange Seminar” was held on September 19 at the Yasumoto International Academic Park of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. On that day, our Form 5 students, who had previously participated in the Harbin study tour, had the honour of gathering with many teachers and students to showcase their fruitful learning outcomes through a joint-school sharing session.

The content of this exchange seminar was incredibly rich and inspiring. The Form 5 students not only shared what they saw and heard in Harbin, but also explored into the crucial role of black soil in China’s food security, as well as how agricultural technology transformed the “Great Northern Wilderness” into today’s “Great Northern Granary.” Through their prepared 3-minute video presentations and 1-minute speech, they sincerely expressed their thoughtful reflections on climate response, environmental sustainability, and the relationship between agriculture and society.

This sharing session served not only as a stage for Form 5 students to summarize their practical experiences but also as a guide for Form 4 students. By observing the presentations of their senior schoolmates and the other 12 participating schools, the Form 4 students gained a comprehensive understanding of the core content and fruitful results of the Soyvestors learning program. During the event, they also visited the corridor exhibition area to appreciate and vote for outstanding student photography and poster works, learning about the continuous efforts of agricultural scientists from multiple perspectives. All of this helped the Form 4 students better equip themselves, laying a solid foundation for their participation in the Soyvestors learning program for the next 2 years.

Through the exchanges among our school representatives and other schools, as well as the summaries provided by the principals and professors, the students greatly realized the strategic significance of soybeans and the ongoing importance of safeguarding China’s food security. This transfer of experience from Form 5 to Form 4 students successfully broke down grade boundaries, achieving a precious inheritance of knowledge and allowing the seeds of passion for global issues and scientific research to thrive continuously on our school campus.

As the ancient saying goes, “Study extensively, inquire thoroughly, ponder carefully, discriminate clearly, and practice earnestly.” The learning process requires not only reading widely and maintaining curiosity, but also asking questions and reflecting with a clear sense of right and wrong. Finally, through practice and sharing, knowledge can be broadly expanded and scattered. This sharing session perfectly embodied this spirit of learning.
