Form 5 Study Tour: Exploring Singapore’s Green Future and Urban Innovation

From June 30th to July 3rd, 36 of our Form 5 students embarked on an eye-opening, four-day educational tour to Singapore. The trip offered a perfect blend of cultural immersion, cutting-edge science, and a deep dive into how a modern metropolis balances rapid urbanization with environmental sustainability.

Day 1: Heritage and Visionary Planning

The tour kicked off with a visit to the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) Gallery, where students gained first-hand insights into Singapore’s meticulous urban planning and long-term land-use strategies. This was followed by a cultural walk-through at Chinatown and a photo-stop at the iconic Merlion Park, giving students a taste of Singapore’s rich history and vibrant identity.

Day 2: Science, Sustainability, and Art

Day two focused heavily on innovation. The day began at the Science Centre Singapore, sparking curiosity through interactive exhibitions. Next, the group visited Gardens by the Bay, a world-renowned marvel of green architecture, where students observed how nature integrates seamlessly into a concrete jungle. The day concluded at the striking ArtScience Museum, where art and technology collide to tell stories of future sustainability.

Day 3: Team Building at Universal Studios

To reward the students’ hard work and foster peer bonding, Day 3 was spent entirely at Universal Studios Singapore. From thrilling rollercoasters to immersive cinematic experiences, the students enjoyed a fantastic day of laughter, team building, and unforgettable memories.

Day 4: Lessons in Water Sustainability

On the final day, the group visited the Marina Barrage. More than just a scenic dam, the barrage served as a live classroom for water resource management and flood control. It perfectly tied together the core theme of the trip: how innovative engineering can solve critical environmental challenges.
