PTA Hike to the Ngong Ping 360 on 15 Dec 2024 (Sun) 家校「昂」步迎六十
The PTA organised a hike to the Ngong Ping 360 on December 15. It was one of the activities celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Delia Group of Schools. It was a leisure hike on Nei Nak Shan Trail. After gathering at the Tung Chung MTR Station at 9:30 am, thirty-eight of us (parents, children and teachers) proceeded to the Cable Car Station.
The cold weather did not dampen our gladness. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery on our ride to up to mountain, seeing the newly expanded international airport, different transportation infrastructures and the Tung Chung new town. We strolled around at the Ngong Ping Village for a short time because tables were reserved at 11 am before the huge number of visitors arrived. The tasty lunch fueled us energy and we began our hike. We scaled the Nei Nak Shan Trail enjoying the fresh air. It was cloudy in the morning but the sun came out in the afternoon. It was a bit warmer.
Many of us paused at the viewing deck to take pictures with the background of a section of the HK-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the Po Lin Temple and the Big Buddha. Then we continued the hike reaching the Wisdom Path. We stayed there for a while appreciating the calligraphy of a late sinologist, Jao Tsung-i. We finally reached the Piazza down the Big Buddha. It was a two-hour walk.
After talking the group picture at the Piazza, participants strolled freely before they took the cable car down to Tung Chung and got home. It was an enjoyable leisure excursion.
