“Mission success!” Lara exclaims excitedly as she gazes at the shining jewel in her hands. She hisses in pain as she washes away the blood from the graze on her leg with water from a nearby lake. Lara Croft, native to Arkansas, USA. Cherished in a middle-class family, she never had to worry about financial struggles. Her father was a historian professor at the University of Arkansas and her mother was an anthropologist. As Lara was devising her learning materials for her upcoming lecture, she uncovered classified intel about a mysterious and bygone relic.
During an expedition in ancient Mycenae, Greece, Lara and other archaeologists came across a prehistoric tomb filled with ornaments of worship used to devote your life to a god. Traps were set and the other archaeologists didn’t survive, only Lara escaped. “No… this can’t be.” Croft muttered under her breath as she gazed at the tomb crumbling into rocks. She was fired from her job due to controversy arising from the event but went on a hunt about this seemingly confidential primordial religion. This event forced her to work on her dreams full-time without the worries of teaching.
Back to today, Lara has a new purpose that motivates her in her adventures, to seek for knowledge. As culture would be forgotten or driven to extinction through man’s greatest enemy- time, Croft finds it her mission to rediscover these potent artefacts and examine the fractured remains of the past.
