Despite my low-income family background, I believe overcoming such hardship so as to study an IT-related UGC degree in Hong Kong is still possible. I will strive to connect with teachers, local professionals, and peers who share my interests. They can provide guidance and may know about opportunities. I will continue to set clear goals and remind myself of my passion for IT. I will continue to utilize free online resources to learn programming and other IT skills. Websites like Codecademy, Coursera, and Khan Academy offer free courses. I will look for opportunities to participate in coding competitions to gain practical experience and showcase my skills. Subjects relevant to IT, such as Mathematics and Computer Science would be my top priority of revision and study as they have a higher weighting for the admission of the programme I aim at. Regarding my financial hardship, I will look for scholarships specifically for students from low-income families. Many universities and organizations offer financial aid based on need or merit. I will also check out local and international scholarships that focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). If possible, after the HKDSE next year prior to the release of my results, I will look for internships or volunteer opportunities in IT-related fields. This will help you build your resume and gain valuable experience.
I am committed to contributing to my community by making use of my technological skills in a way that will be beneficial to all. For example, I will volunteer for local nonprofit organizations by helping them create their websites for reaching out to more people. I will also take part in community tech fairs and teach coding and digital literacy to young students with an interest in technology. I also look forward to the opportunity of working with non profit organizations to run and operate fundraising campaigns for organizing activities that help families in need. I can help by handling the logistics of the campaigns to ensure they can run smoothly. By doing this, I hope to help the community to create an atmosphere that will promote learning and innovation among youngsters. Moreover, many non-profit organizations need help with their IT systems, websites, or digital marketing. I am eager to offer my skills to assist them in improving their online presence or managing data. After I have sharpened my programming skills, I will consider developing apps that address local needs, such as a platform for volunteering opportunities, local services, or community events.
