Homework Policy

by Chan K.P. (Deputy Principal)

Homework is defined as any work planned or approved by the teacher to be completed by the student. Learning is a process composed of “understanding” and “practicing”. Doing homework is a vital process since it is the time for students to practise on the knowledge they learn in class.

Through homework, students can improve their skills in the subject area, reinforce the knowledge and develop self-motivation, responsibility and independence. Most of all, homework can be a tool to enhance home/school communication and provide for increased curriculum understanding.

To achieve all these, students in Delia (Broadway) will not be alone. Numerous measures are adopted to make doing homework a meaningful and joyful task.

  • Every shareholder can access the details of homework at home through internet.

  •  “Homework Guidance Lessons” are arranged regularly in school to help students get over the difficulties they may encounter.

  •  “Class Teacher Periods” help teachers monitor students’ progress.

Our school would also like to ask parents to:

1.  Be familiar with the school's homework policy.

2.  Help their children set a regular homework time each day, free of other responsibilities, and remain with that commitment.

3.  Provide a place to work and study that is quiet, properly lighted and equipped with necessary basic materials.

4.  Limit television viewing and avoid television or radio listening during study time.

5.  Show interest in their children's homework by encouraging them to do their best.

6.  Encourage their children to complete assignments independently.

7.  Discuss and review homework assignments with their children to become aware of what they are studying.

8.  Provide feedback to the teacher regarding problems, such as time, difficulty, and progress.
